Byron David Brent, MD

Byron David Brent, MD, is a board certified ophthalmologist who specializes in diseases of the retina. A native of Pasadena, Texas, he graduated from Rice University with a degree in biology. After completing his medical training at the University of Texas at San Antonio with honors, he completed an internship in internal medicine. He then completed a three year ophthalmology residency at Tulane University Medical Center, and served as Chief Resident in his final year. Following residency, he pursued an additional two years of training in diseases and surgery of the retina and vitreous. He has taken excimer laser training at the prestigious Johns Hopkins – Wilmer Eye Institute and the Phillips Eye Institute in Minneapolis. Dr. Brent has various teaching appointments, awards, and honors as well as a plethora of presentations and publications. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Brent has a private practice in Austin, TX and is an investigator at Austin Clinical Research.
